Annual LEHDER Emissions Testing Group Conference Overview

     Posted by LEHDER News on

LEHDER ETG 2016THE LEHDER Emissions Testing Group’s (ETG) annual conference provides an opportunity for all ETG team members from LEHDER’s Sarnia and Edmonton offices to unite and exchange ideas, obtain training and regulatory updates, and promote their well-being as individuals and members of the ETG Team.

The theme of this year’s conference was ‘Quality’ due to the implementation of Alberta’s Air Monitoring Directive (AMD) and the implementation of LEHDER’s ETG Quality Management System.

Alberta's Air Monitoring Directive sets out the requirements for monitoring and reporting air quality in the province of Alberta.  Chapter 5 of the AMD is the 'Quality System' Chapter and provides criteria and guidance to operators of monitoring equipment on the minimum quality assurance, air monitoring and reporting requirements.  The AMD requires an operator who hires a consultant to conduct air monitoring or reporting on their behalf to have a Quality System in place.  While LEHDER had the majority of the required components already, we implemented a cohesive Quality Management System and wrote our internal Quality Manual based upon the specifications required under Chapter 5 this past summer.  More details in regards to the AMD can be located here.

Conference Agenda

The conference agenda includes a variety of topics and presentations are provided by both internal and external personnel.

The 2016 conference agenda topics covered by LEHDER personnel included:

  • Alberta’s Air Monitoring Directive,
  • LEHDER Quality System Management & Document Management Procedures,
  • LEHDER’s Project Management Software & Project Planning Exercise,
  • Mental Health,
  • ETG Case Studies,
  • Safety & TDG, and
  • Staff presentations including Data Evaluation and Quality, Applying Excel, and the Psychology of a Stack Sampler.

LEHDER is also thankful to our external speakers:

  • Cam Davies of Ironworks Gym, presenting on strength training and joint health;

  • Kelvin Chu of WorleyParsons, presenting on Lean Principles; and

  • Rick Cooper of Owens Corning, presenting on corporate sustainability and a client’s challenges with stack emission projects.

Team Building

LEHDER Annual Bowling TournamentThis conference is always a means for collaboration between our two offices to promote continuous improvement in our processes and work habits.  However, it’s also an important opportunity for the staff to enjoy strengthening the team morale for the ETG and all LEHDER staff.  The Annual LEHDER Bowling tournament is held each year during the conference with the winning team enjoying bragging rights for the year and their team immortalized on the company trophy!  A special thank you is extended to Joe Cebulski and the team at the YMCA Leadership & Challenge Centre for the rewarding team building event they provided for the Emissions Testing Group at the conclusion of the conference.

For more information on the ETG Conference, Alberta’s Air Monitoring Directive or LEHDER’s Quality System, please contact Mike Denomme.
