The Workplace Hazardous Materials Bureau (WHMB) is implementing a new policy as of November 17, 2017 concerning all incomplete claims for exemption filed under the Hazardous Materials Information Review Act (HMIRA). A copy of the new policy is provided for you below.
The intent of the policy is to establish a procedure to manage all incomplete claims for exemption to prevent claims from being placed on hold for an extended period of time. As per the procedures stated in the policy document, WHMB will be contacting specific claimants in the case of any outstanding claim applications that are currently on hold.
These claimants will be given 30 calendar days from the date of the notification to submit the required information to Health Canada or their claim will be rejected and all information will be destroyed.
