Relative Accuracy Test Audit (RATA)
Meeting the Needs of Industry
print this page
With new regulations involving emissions trading and reporting, the validity of facility emission data is extremely important. A Relative Accuracy Test Audit (RATA) compares data from a facility Continuous

Emissions Monitor (CEM) system to independent Reference Method data. LEHDER typically follows the Environment Canada methodology (EPS 1/PG/7) when conducting RATA programs.

Typical parameters monitored for RATA CEM programs are:
Oxygen (O2)
Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
Carbon Monoxide (CO)
Oxides of Nitrogen (NOX)
Sulphur dioxide (SO2)
Stack Gas Velocity
Stack Gas Volumetric Flow Rate
Stack Gas Temperature
Stack Gas Pressure

Essentially, the plant CEM system data and LEHDER reference method data are compared over the same time period as one minute averages over a 30 minute period. A minimum of nine tests (a maximum of twelve tests) are completed to evaluate the plant CEM system performance. LEHDER compares the data after each test to determine the status of the CEM system. Complete pass or fail data are provided to the facility at the end of the day.

LEHDER can provide assistance with CEM Certification Relative Accuracy Tests, Cylinder Gas Audits (CGAs), Annual QA/QC Manual Audits and any other questions regarding your facility CEM System.
